A lot of us have a misconception on what love truly is. Some people only love you when everything is easy or you are doing something for them. I hear this all the time, “I only love those who love me.” However, love isn’t truly love unless it is put to the test. Do you truly know what love is? This blog will help you to discover what true love is.
Loving someone that treats you good is no effort and is not considered love. What happens if the person you love says something or does something that is hurtful.
Luke 6:32-34 Living Translation: 32 “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! 33 And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! 34 And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return.
True love is tested when someone mistreats you and you exercise your faith by continuing to walk in love.
Luke 6:35:36 Living Translation: 35 “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. 36 You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
How can you tell if you are truly walking in a love that does not fails, the God kind of love? Evaluate yourself.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Easy Read Version” 4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. 5 Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it. 6 Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth. 7 Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.
Love shines the brightest in the midst of evil and darkness.
Romans 12:17-21 New Living: 17 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,”
says the Lord.20 Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap
burning coals of shame on their heads.”21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
Testimony: In training for work a coworker was mean to me. The co-worker asked for an ink pen and I was sitting next to her. I told her I have one however, she ignored me. Another co-worker said angrily “don’t you see she trying to give you something and you totally ignored her?!” I told the co-worker don’t be concerned about it. On Valentine’s day I handed out strawberry lollipops with scriptures on them to my coworkers including the lady who was mean to me . She apologized later for the way she acted and told me her insecurities is why she treated me harshly. The enemy was playing with her mind and she thought I was talking about her because I talked to a co-worker who she didn’t get along with. I told her I love everyone no matter how they act.
When weighed on a scale, love never fails!
Prayer: “Thank you God for loving me so much that you sacrificed your only Son Jesus to die for me!” “I repent for letting my emotions rule me. I choose to walk in love no matter how I feel. Faith works by love. God I ask you to help me and put a check in my spirit when I am walking out of love so my prayers won’t be hindered. I am not influenced by evil, but I overcome evil by doing good. It is easy to treat someone good that treats me good. My love is activated and exercised when it is put to the test. I thank you for the victory now! In Jesus name! Amen!
