) The phrase came to me due to a dream I had about my father, who recently passed. My dad would always give me sound wisdom from God. I have been missing my dad a lot. God is leading me through life without my dad. In my dream, my dad told me to come against spirits operating in people with the word of God, and not to accept it or allow it. Words are spirit and life. God created everything with His word. In Matthew 4, after Jesus came from fasting, the devil tried to persuade Jesus, even twisting the scriptures, but Jesus spoke the word to put the devil on the run. We can do the same with our situations. Ask God to put a check in your spirit when we say something out of line. Ask God to set a guard over your mouth and keep the door of your lips.
The devil can catch you off guard when you are vulnerable, in a state of tragedy, eating, entertaining, and joking to get you to say something or agree with something outside of the word of God. Be on guard and speak the word only.
Matthew 2-4 NLT: 2 For forty days and forty nights, he fasted and became very hungry.3 During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
The devil comes at you with pride to get us to speak and do things against the word of God to keep us in bondage.
Matthew 4:5-7 NLT: 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, 6 and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say,‘ He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’”7 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’
The devil comes at you with things to distract you, such as the things of the world, money, and things to get you to say and go against the character of God.
Matthew 4:7-10 NLT: 8 Next, the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.”10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’
Remain free through speaking words of life. Be careful what you say when in challenging situations. Do not allow pride or the desire for things, power, and money to persuade you to speak and go against what God said. God’s word is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. In the heat of the battle, speak the word only!
Set yourself free today by the words that you say!
Prayer: God, thank you for your word that is spirit and life. In the heat of tempatation, challenging circumstances, or wanting to do things my way, I speak the word of God. God, your word is truth, and the truth sets me free from the bondage of temptations, trials, and pride. In Jesus’ name! Amen!.
