We all encounter problems in life, including those with the government, in relationships, in business, and with health concerns, as well as personal struggles. As believers, we are under a new covenant, a new kingdom, and a new government that Jesus has conquered for us on earth. Now He is seated at the right hand of our Heavenly Father. We are in the world, not of this world. In Genesis Chapter 2, God told Adam every tree of the garden, except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you may eat. If you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you would surely die. However, Eve, Adam’s wife, was deceived by the devil operating through a serpent. She talked Adam into eating from the tree, and Adam ate after he knew what God told him. God asked, “Where are you?” Adam and Eve hid because they noticed they were naked and tied leaves around them. Adam said, “We hid because we are naked.” God asked Adam, “Who told you you were naked?” Adam started pointing the finger at Eve, saying, “That woman you gave me made me eat of the tree.” Eve accused the serpent, saying, “The serpent tempted me and I ate.” I wonder what would have happened if they had repented and taken responsibility for their actions. Maybe they would not have been cursed and kicked out of the garden. It is easy to point the finger at others; however, change starts with us as believers in Jesus.
The devil is operating in us when we point the finger at others.
Zechariah 3:1-3 NLT:Then the angel showed me Jeshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. The Accuser, Satan, was there at the angel’s right hand, making accusations against Jeshua. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire.”3 Jeshua’s clothing was filthy as he stood there before the angel. 4 So the angel said to the others standing there, “Take off his filthy clothes.” And turning to Jeshua he said, “See, I have taken away your sins, and now I am giving you these fine new clothes.”
Examine yourself. Ask God to search your heart.
1 Corinthians 11:31 NLT: 31 But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.
Psalm 139:23-24:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Ask God for wisdom.
James 1:5: 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Think before speaking.
James 1:19: 19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
Our battle is not with physical it is with the spiritual.
Ephesians 6:12 Amplified: 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.
Let God handle your situation. He judges fairly.
Romans 12:19-21 NLT:19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,“I will take revenge;I will pay them back,”says the Lord. 20 Instead,“If your enemies are hungry, feed them.If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heapburning coals of shame on their heads.”21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
Proverbs 24:17-18 NLT: 17 Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;don’t be happy when they stumble.
18 For the Lord will be displeased with you and will turn his anger away from them.
Love and pray for people.
Ephesians 5:1-2 NKJV: Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Matthew 5:44-45 NLT: 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.
Testimony: I had a supervisor over me that was very demanding, cold, and did things that were cruel. Our team began to pray that God changes his heart or change the situation. A co-worker called me while I was off work to inform me my supervisor was demoted. Immediately I started cheering and saying that is what he get. God reminded me of not rejoicing over my enemy falling because God would turn the situation around in his favor. I repented quickly and thanked God for fighting my battles for me. God told me judgement is not my business, but His.
Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice. I repent for pointing fingers at others. God search my heart and uproot anything that is not like you. I pray for my enemies. I am swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. God, give me wisdom for each situation. I operate in the fruit of the Spirit so the power of God can flow through me. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
