I would hear a phrase from my elders in high school and college “keep living.” I did not quite understand it until now. The longer we are here on earth we have loved ones pass, health challenges, career and financial challenges. The short time we are here on Earth should make us think about eternity. “If you died today will you spend eternity with Jesus in heaven?” If your answer is no, or you do not know, receive Jesus today before it is too late You do not want to gamble with your eternity.
Good deeds can not save you.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
God gives us a choice.
Deuteromy 30:15-20NLT:15 “Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. 16 For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy.17 “But if your heart turns away and you refuse to listen, and if you are drawn away to serve and worship other gods, 18 then I warn you now that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live a long, good life in the land you are crossing the Jordan to occupy.19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! 20 You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
Repent and accept Jesus in your life.
2 Peter 3:9-13 NIV:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
John 3:16-18 NIV : 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
Romans 10:9-13 NIV: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Testimony: I went to church all my life with my parents. I got baptized at 6 and did the outward thing, but I did not have a relationship with God. I did what I wanted to do and would condemn others because I was condemned. I had a wake up call at the age of 19 when my brother in anger called me a hypocrite and that I was no better than anyone. I talked to God and told Him I did not want to live like this. I sang in the choir and served as an usher in church, but my heart was far from God. I was not sure about my eternity. My good works was not enough to get me into heaven. I repented and asked Jesus to come into my heart. I began spending time in the word through the week, not just on Sunday, God began to transform me. When I mess up, I repent and get back on track. Things that used to tempt me has no power over me anymore. I am still a work in progress. I know where I will spend eternity. God has given me a heart for people who are lost spiritually through encouraging them and sharing what God has done in my life. The blog site I have since 2018 was birthed out of me spending time with God. I discovered my purpose ecouraging people into love and good works.
Prayer: God thank you for sending your son Jesus to die for me. I am a sinner . I repent of my sin. I believe in my heart, receive and confess with my mouth Jesus is Lord and Savior of my life. I believed you lived, died, and was raised from the dead. Thank you God I am saved. God I ask you to help me in areas I fall short in. A righteous person falls 7 times, but get back up again. I am looking forward to spending eternity with you. In Jesus name! Amen!
