Many get into conversations and debates about who is the greatest, especially when it comes to entertainers, titles, and positions. People debated in the bible about who is the greatest. I like what an entertainer said at the awards. “A true artist is not concerned about winning an award or accolades.” “A true artist does what they love to do, and everyone has different tastes and styles.” Some may appreciate an artist’s body of work, while others may not. We can get so caught up in comparison that pride takes over, and jealousy, discord, and arguments creep in.
The greatest is a servant. We are created to serve out the purpose God has for us.
Matthew 23:12-13: Easy Read Version: 11 Whoever serves you like a servant is the greatest among you. 12 People who think they are better than others will be made humble. But people who humble themselves will be made great.
The greatest has to be humble and teachable as a child. The more teachable you are, the greater you become. Matthew 18:1-5: About that time, the followers came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in God’s kingdom?”2 Jesus called a little child to come to him. He stood the child in front of the followers. 3 Then he said, “The truth is, you must change your thinking and become like little children. If you don’t do this, you will never enter God’s kingdom. 4 The greatest person in God’s kingdom is the one who makes himself humble like this child.5 “Whoever accepts a little child like this in my name is accepting me.
God, who sent His Son Jesus to die for us, is the greatest. Yielding to God and allowing Him to work through you glorifies God.
John 14:10 Living Translation: Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father, who lives in me, does his work through me.
We can easily get jaded, debating on who is the greatest.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for being the Great I AM. I allow you to flow through me. Without you, God, I can do nothing. I humble myself as a child so I can go higher with you. I use my purpose and gift to serve and glorify God. In Jesus’ name. Amen House.
